Privacy policy

Updated: October 20, 2026

The app contains no advertising or user-tracking tools. I do not operate a separate server to collect gameplay data. Network features use Apple services and the word-definition sources described below.

On-device data

Settings, an unfinished game, match history, statistics, favorite words, cached definitions and local Daily Challenge data are stored on your device. Local play does not require a separate Wordjack account.

iCloud - private CloudKit database

Match history, statistical summaries and favorite words with saved definitions may sync through the private CloudKit database of your iCloud account. This database is separate from the public noticeboard and is not shared with other players. History and statistics sync when signed in to Game Center; favorite words use the available iCloud account.

iCloud - settings synchronization

Selected settings, dictionary languages, custom rules, tutorial progress, Daily Challenge attempts and streaks, noticeboard preferences and pins sync through the iCloud key-value store. This helps restore progress after reinstallation and across devices using the same account.

iCloud - public CloudKit database and noticeboard

The noticeboard uses a public CloudKit database. A published notice contains the author name and identifier, game rules and language, player count, protocol version, creation and expiry times and a timestamp indicating the author’s presence at the table. A response contains the responder name and response time. These records are available to other noticeboard users; they are not private iCloud database records. You can withdraw your notice; after its chosen lifetime it is no longer offered as active. Do not include information in your player name that you do not want to share.

Game Center and network play

Game Center provides sign-in, matchmaking, online play, leaderboards and achievements. Other players may see your Game Center name and profile photo, results and information required for play. During online or local network games, devices exchange match state, player names and actions. Nearby play requires local network permission.

Notifications

With your permission, the app can show Daily Challenge reminders and noticeboard notifications for notices and responses. CloudKit subscriptions and Apple’s push notification service deliver noticeboard notifications. You can change permission in system settings.

Word definitions

Looking up a definition sends the searched word to sjp.pl or Wiktionary, depending on language and availability. The provider also receives normal connection data, including your IP address. Results are cached; favorite words may also be stored in your private iCloud database. External services apply their own privacy policies.

Purchases

Apple processes Plus, bundle and voluntary support purchases through StoreKit. The app receives transaction and entitlement information for purchased features. I do not receive payment card numbers or payment details.

Local diagnostic logs

The app stores a limited diagnostic log of events and errors on your device, including network connections, Game Center, iCloud and notifications. Entries may contain technical identifiers and information about connection participants. The log is not automatically sent to the developer. In the hidden diagnostics panel you can review, clear or manually share it, for example when reporting a problem, if I ask you to do so (along with instructions on how to access the diagnostics panel). Older entries are removed when the log is processed; at most 2,000 entries from the last 24 hours are retained.

Contact and diagnostics

Contacting the author is optional. The contact button opens your mail app with the app and system version, device model, language and Game Center status. You can review and edit this content before sending. I receive only the message you choose to send.

Your controls and contact

You can withdraw your notices, delete favorite words and manage iCloud, Game Center and notification access through Apple settings. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily remove data stored in iCloud or Game Center results. For privacy questions, contact privacy@falkowski.pm. Apple services are subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
